Swimming, Sweating, and Sunshine!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I sure did.
As I was feasting at my sister's house my brother-in-law asked me if I wanted to swim with him this morning. So, this morning, at 5:15 AM I met Mark at his house and we started running to Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. I am taking a swimming class this semester and it has been my favorite class by far. I love my teacher, my classmates, and I love swimming. It is the best workout. Anyway, we got to Sand Hollow and swam for an hour and then ran back home.
Exercise makes me happy.
That is all there is to it. I didn't necessarily get any inspiration today because I was talking to Mark the whole time, but I realized that exercise brings me pure joy. I love swimming in the water and feeling the water rush past you. I love the circular motion of your arms and cutting the water starting with your hands, following through with the rest of your arm. I even love inhaling water sometimes. It makes me appreciate when I breathe right! Building up endurance swimming is a lot harder than building up endurance running. In my class we have learned the 4 Olympic strokes, Freestyle, Breast stroke, Back Stroke, and Butterfly. Learning butterfly was hilarious. It was lucky for me that the day I really tried it was the day that only I showed up for class. My poor teacher had to try not to laugh as I tried to do the worm in the water. I can't do the worm out of the water, what makes me think I can do it in the water!? No, I actually finally caught on. This one day we actually had four people show up for our class so we did a relay and each one of us did a 50 of one stroke. Of course, because I'm the only girl, and they like to pick on me, I was given the Butterfly Stroke. I about died. It took me a whole minute, but I was pleased with myself.
Mornings like these, where it is the end of November, the sun is still shining, there isn't a cloud in sight, and all I'm wearing are sweatpants and a jacket enrich my life. I thank my father above that has given me a healthy body to enjoy mornings like these.
I am committed. I am committed to a healthy life. I am not perfect, but through all of the different phases as a women, and as a human being, I am committed to take care of myself and stay strong and healthy. This is a truth that I feel every time I exercise. We were meant to come here and learn how to take care of our bodies.
I hope that you join me. I hope you join me in committing yourself to being healthy for your whole life. Start small. Everything counts. You can do it! Petition God for help. He will strengthen you and teach you. I am a witness of that.
Have a happy Friday! Don't get too crazy with the shopping. At least park far away and get that extra walk in!
