Expressions of Love

I have been thinking and pondering on a subject for a while now. 

Reverence: A profound respect and love. (True to the Faith pg. 145)

While knowing and understanding what this meant in regards to our Heavenly Father and Savior I have discovered a new way to apply this principle or gift in my life. 

Satan is a big bully and many times he sneaks his way into my thoughts and narrows their pathways. He is specifically good at this when it comes to my body. 

My body. The most amazing and sacred gift that God has given me. My body, though sometimes abused through my many bad habits, functions and maintains homeostasis allowing me to experience everything that I am meant to experience on this earth. 

When I allow my mind to focus on God's voice my thoughts broaden and today while I have been desperately trying to broaden my thoughts I realized that a part of being reverent toward God and Jesus Christ is having reverence for our bodies. 

Several weeks ago on a run a thought came to me that really stuck in my brain. Our bodies were given to us by God. He has sent us down here to earth to worship him, obey his commandments, and develop faith. We should worship God through our bodies. This thought filled my soul with light and while my heart pounded I was filled with joy and gratitude. 

Worshiping is the means by which we express our reverence, our profound love and respect, for our Heavenly Father and our Savior. The more I focus on worshiping God through my body the less the pulls and shouts of the world have affect on my thoughts and attitudes towards myself. The less control the world has on my thoughts the more I can accomplish the things the Lord sent me here to do. 

Our Savior was the perfect example of worshiping God in a body. He came to earth and received his mortal tabernacle and then gave that mortal tabernacle as a sacrifice for sin for us, his brothers and sisters. In so doing he worshiped and glorified God. 

So worship God through your body. It makes you and God happy.
